EVANSVILLE - Wrestling may be, by definition, an individual sport, but the Mat Rats found a lot of satisfaction as a squad at a tournament in Evansville last Sunday.

The Green County Family YMCA organization placed second as a squad in the invitational that featured nearly 200 youths.

Drake Ingold and Owen Boss won their respective K-2nd grade ladders, Traiten Gorr won his 3rd-4th-grade category, Ryan Hughes and Nick Poirier cleaned up in the 5th-6th-grade division and Trevor Gorr was unstoppable in his 7th-8th-grade bracket.

Dempzy Foley, Dylan Scace and Brayden Zettle took runner-up honors in the K-2nd level, Hayden Arneson, Jacob Ellefson, Joel Faith, McKenzy Foley, Parker Ingold and Cole Murray took second-place honors in the 3rd-4th-grade level and Sky McGregor earned fourth.

Tyler Davis and Troy Gorr took second in the 5th-6th-grade level and Eric Timm took third while Aaron Hesgard and Reave Lincoln took third in the 7th-8th-grade category to round out Monroe's finishes.

Poirier, Trevor Gorr and Aaron Hesgard all took golds in their divisions in Belmont-Platteville while Dusty Burkhalter and Kevin Klopfenstein added thirds in the 7th-8th-grade level.

Jacob Meier added a third-place finish at Lancaster.

Next up for the Mat Rats will be tourneys in Janesville and Mineral Point on Sunday.
