Over the weekend, Monroe's Mat Rats sent wrestlers to Belmont-Platteville and Oregon for separate youth wrestling tournaments. More than 400 southern Wisconsin wrestlers participated.
In Oregon, Aiden Sweeney, Colby Argall and Mitchell Quinn all took first place in the kindergarten- through second-grade division. Cole Murray finished in first place, with Sam Kind and Dylan Scace finishing second and third in the third- and fourth-grade division.
Traiten Gorr finished in first place and Jacob Quinn took second place in the fifth- and sixth-grade division.
Troy Gorr, Trevor Gorr and Kevin Klopfenstein each took first place in the seventh- and eighth-grade division. Reave Lincoln and Dusty Burkhalter finished second and Eric Timm and Aaron Hesgard placed fourth in the same division.
In Belmont, Hayden Arneson finished in third place in the third- and fourth-grade division.
On Jan. 11, Dylan Scace took third in Cuba City and Aaron Hesgard also finished in third at a tournament in Delavan.
This Sunday, Jan. 25, the Monroe Mat Rats will be hosting a tournament. The meet will take place at the high school gym, with matches starting around 10 a.m. and ending around 3 p.m.
