WIAA Volleyball Playoff matchups announced

MONROE — The WIAA released the volleyball tournament brackets Wednesday.

Monroe was placed as the No. 11 seed in Division 2 and will travel to sixth-seeded Richland Center Tuesday for the first round of the playoffs. The winner will take on third-seeded Platteville or 14th-seeded Lodi Oct. 18.

In Division 3, Brodhead earned the No. 5 seed in its sectional and will host Clinton Tuesday. The winner will play either No. 13 Cambridge or No. 4 Williams Bay.

New Glarus, the 14 seed, travels to rival Belleville (3) in round one, with the winner taking on either Lancaster (11) or Darlington (6).

In Division 4, Black Hawk (3) will host Albany (14) Tuesday, while Monticello (6) hosts Faith Christian. The winners of each matchup will face off Thursday in the regional semifinal.

Elsewhere in Division 4, Juda (8) hosts Cambria-Friesland (9) Tuesday, with the winner getting either Wisconsin School for the Deaf (16) or top-seeded Randolph. Argyle (4) hosts Barneveld (13) and the winner hosts either Fall River (5) or Pecatonica (12).

All first-round games are played at 7 p.m. Tuesday and second-round games will be at 7 p.m. Thursday. Regional championships for all divisions will be Saturday at 7 p.m. at the top-seeded schools remaining.
