MONROE — Following seeding meetings Oct. 8-11, volleyball seedings and brackets for the WIAA tournament were released.
Regionals occur Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 7 p.m. with the higher seed at the lower seed. Sectionals resume the following week on Thursday and Saturday at 7 p.m., with the state tournament Nov. 2-4 at Green Bay’s Resch Center.
DIVISION 2
Monroe (6-17, 2-6 Rock Valley-Valley) received the No. 13 seed and will travel to No. 4 seed Dodgeville (25-5, 9-0 SWC). The SWC champion Dodgers have won their last 19 games while Monroe enters playoffs on a two-game win streak. Both teams opened their seasons with losses to Mount Horeb.
DIVISION 3
Brodhead (10-14, 5-5 Rock Valley-Rock) received the No. 3 seed and will host No. 14 seed Cambridge (5-14-1, 0-9 Capitol South). Brodhead finished third in their conference, which is a combination of Division 2 and 3 teams, but currently rides a three-game losing streak. The two teams share a handful of opponents, but notably, Brodhead has defeated Wisconsin Heights and Columbus, while Cambridge fell to both of them.
Darlington (18-9, 8-4 SWAL) received the No. 4 seed and hosts conference opponent No. 13 Riverdale (5-15, 2-9 SWAL). The Redbirds recently swept the Chieftains on Oct. 3.
New Glarus (17-11, 6-3 Capitol South) received the No. 5 seed and hosts No. 12 seed Deerfield (6-26, 2-4 Trailways South). The two teams share a handful of common opponents, most notably Parkview and Cambridge. New Glarus swept both, while Deerfield lost to both.
If Darlington and New Glarus win their opening games, they will face each other in a regional semifinal on Thursday in Darlington.
DIVISION 4
Juda (0-15, 0-11 Six Rivers East) received the No. 15 seed and travels to No. 2 seed Highland (14-4, 10-1 Six Rivers West). The Cardinals won the Six Rivers West, while the Panthers sit at the bottom of the Six Rivers East, having won just one set all conference season.
Black Hawk (2-13, 2-8 Six Rivers East) received the No. 13 seed and travels to No. 4 seed Shullsburg. The Miners were just one game back of Highland in the Six Rivers West and received votes in the latest week of rankings. The two teams met during the regular season in the Lancaster Invite, where Shullsburg won 2-1.
Pecatonica (11-5 10-2 Six Rivers East) received the No. 5 seed and hosts No. 12 seed Potosi (3-16, 2-9 Six Rivers West). Both teams opened their seasons with games against Benton, but Pecatonica prevailed and Potosi did not. The Vikings have played some of their best volleyball as of late, beating No. 8-ranked Barneveld in five sets on Oct. 3.
If both Pecatonica and Black Hawk win their opening matches, they would meet in a semifinal round on Thursday.
Albany (10-6, 8-3 Six Rivers East) received the No. 6 seed and hosts No. 11 seed Benton (6-16, 3-8 Six Rivers West). As crossover opponents, the two teams had several common foes. In every case, the Comets won, while the Zephyrs lost.
