STEVENS POINT — The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA) announced its 2023 Individual and Team Academic All-State winners on Tuesday, Oct. 24 with two local teams and 20 players honored.
To qualify for an Individual Academic All-State award, a player must be a senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher. He must also be a varsity letterwinner.
Belleville — Isaac Erb, Casey Hagen, Carson Loshaw and Derek Schultz
Brodhead-Juda — Blake Matthys and Isaac Saunders
Darlington — Gage Banfield, Thomas Buschor, Eli Crist, Reagan Jackson, Brady Long, Keven Mendez, Will Murray and Roger Volkening III
Monroe — Gehrig Losenegger, Ryan Mathiason, Wesley Saunders and James Seagreaves
Pecatonica-Argyle — Glenn Jayne and Kyle Theorin
To qualify for a Team Academic All-State award, a team must have at least five seniors whose average cumulative GPA is 3.33 or higher. Win-loss record is not a factor in this award.
“The team award is purely an academic award that we feel is deserving, as those teams have endured countless hours dedicated to the sport of football while their leaders, the seniors, have still maintained an exceptional GPA and remained dedicated in the classroom,” the WFCA website states. “This award represents the team, but more importantly the senior class.”
Darlington — 15 seniors, 3.7014 GPA
Pecatonica-Argyle — 10 seniors, 3.38 GPA
