Darlington 3, Boscobel 0
Darlington — The Redbirds swept Boscobel, 25-20, 25-11, 25-23 Sept. 17.
In the first set, the Redbirds got five kills and two aces from Sydney Beasley.
Darlington struggled with their serving early with five missed serves, but the Bulldogs were equally struggling with four missed serves of their own as the sideouts see-sawed back-and-forth with no flow. The teams were tied on 10 separate occasions until a late 11-5 run allowed the Redbirds to pull away. Beasley sealed the win with a blistering kill for game-point.
In Game 2, the Redbirds found their groove at the service line getting five-point service runs by Alyssa Tuescher and Cori Golackson and four-point runs by Lizzie Schwartz and Brenna McDonald.
In the third set, Boscobel battled with the ’Birds to the end but Darlington earned the sweep. Schwartz had three kills and Beasley added two late in the set to keep the hosts ahead of the Bulldogs, and then a kill by Tuescher won the game and the match.
