Ubersox breaks WarBirds program record for wins, pins

RICHLAND CENTER — Kolbe Ubersox set program records for career wins and pins in the same match on his way to the SWAL-SWC Conference title at 138 pounds.

Darlington-Black Hawk finished seventh in the 13-team clash, with Fennimore taking top honors and Prairie du Chien coming in second.

Ubersox pinned Mineral Point’s Bo Hanson at 2:22 in the second round to set both career marks. The Darlington-Black Hawk senior then went on to top River Valley’s Devan Alt in the semifinals 5-3 and then Prairie du Chien’s Traeton Saint 7-6 in the championship.

Leif Bredeson was also conference champion for the WarBirds, winning all of his matches at heavyweight. Bredeson pinned Prairie du Chien’s Jerrod Osterkamp at the 1:33 mark in the first period.

Eight other WarBirds placed. Cayden Milz was third at 160. At 106, Cashton Hauser was fifth. Sixth-place finishers included Hunter Bredeson (152), Brady Horne (145) and Carson Lobdell (182). Simon Guidi (195) and Karl Seffrood (220) each took eighth. 


Pec-Argyle third at conference meet

DESOTO — Pecatonica-Argyle finished third in the Scenic Ridge and Rivers Conference meet Feb. 2. Ithaca-Weston was first and New Lisbon second in the 12-team meet. 

The Vikings scored three conference champions and 10 place-winners.

Noah Krahenbuhl was first at 120 pounds, defeating teammate Kristian Orloff in the title match by pinfall.

Easton Schraepfer was first at 152, fending off New Lisbon’s Kaleb Baumgart 4-0 in the championship. 

At 220, Lucas Gilbertson took home the tile, pinning Tyler Heinz of North Crawford-Seneca via pin in 57 seconds. 

Also placing for Pecatonica-Argyle was Zander Brunker (170, third), Dalton Turner (160, fourth), Chevy Hughes (138, fifth), Dakota Doescher (132, fourth), Hunter Rodebaugh (106, third) and Dawson Gross (113, sixth).


Rock Valley Conference Meet

BELOIT — Evansville-Albany took home the Rock Valley team title Feb. 2, while Brodhead-Juda finished seventh. 

Jackson Hauri was the 152-pound bracket with a pair of pins and was the Cardinals’ only champion.

Brian McCoullough (145), Jayson Starr (138) and Braden Erb (113) were each third for Bordhead-Juda, while Russell Waeffler was fourth at 120 and Seth Mansfield was fourth at 106. At 160, Cole Hoesly was sixth.


Capitol Conference Meet

POYNETTE — Sugar River finished second as Lodi was the landslide team champion at the Capitol Conference Meet Feb. 2. Lodi scored 322.5 team points, while Sugar River had 187. Lakeside Lutheran was third (149). 

The Raiders’ Robert Chenoweth was the conference champion at 145, scoring wins in all three matches by pinfall. Teammate Daniel Enloe won the heavyweight division with Lodi’s Wyatt Ripp forfeiting in the championship.

At 152, Jack Diederich was second for Sugar River, losing 16-1 in the championship to Lodi’s Colton Nicolay. Joe Quaglia lost in the 120 championship by a 9-2 decision against Poynette’s Cash Stewart.

Also placing for the Raiders were Chase Messner (195, third), Holden Latsch (160, fourth) Cade Femrite (138, fourth), Brian Hollis (132, fourth) and Avery Lettman (126, fifth).
