NEW GLARUS — Two seniors on the New Glarus-Monticello football team have picked their future homes.

Cole Walter, a 6-foot-1, 210-pound offensive and defensive lineman, will play football at UW-La Crosse, while Mason Martinson, an offensive skill back and linebacker, will suit up for the University of Sioux Falls.

On social media, Walter thanked his coaches “for sacrificing their time and effort to not only make me a better athlete, but a better person,” he wrote, while also thanking his parents for their “countless sacrifices” and the UW-La Crosse coaching staff for welcoming him into the program.

Martinson plays quarterback for the Glarner Knights, but was recruited as an athlete thanks to his 6-foot-4, 210-pound stature. He thanked his parents and high school coaches on Twitter “for always pushing and helping me be the best version of myself on and off the field.”
