Sugar River to host Monroe in WIAA Division 3 playoffs

MONROE — The WIAA Girls Soccer Tournament kicks off May 31, with second-round games June 2, regional finals June 4, and sectional games June 9 and 11. The state tournament will take place June 16-18 at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee. 

In Division 3, Monroe (1-13-1) earned a bye in the first round and will face eighth-ranked Sugar River (13-2-1), the fourth seed. Gametime is set for 7 p.m. on June 2 in Belleville. The winner will face either 12-seed Whitewater-Palmyra Eagle (5-8-3) or fifth-seeded Platteville-Lancaster (8-4-1).

Also in the sectional reside No. 1-ranked McFarland (14-1-1), plus ninth-ranked Edgewood (11-2-1). McFarland defeated Edgewood by three goals earlier this year and Sugar River by five. Edgewood beat Monroe by 10 goals on April 21.
