NEW GLARUS — Sugar River bamboozled Wisconsin Dells 8-1 Sept. 18 at the New Glarus pitch, with Charlie Douma netting three goals.
“(We) came out ready to play,” Raiders coach Kyle Webber said. “The guys worked hard putting the Dells under pressure for most of the game. Besides the mosquitos, it was a great night.”
Jaden Kreklow opened the scoring for the Raiders in the eighth minute on a pass from Logan Winklepleck. Douma (14th minute) and Kreklow (15th minute) then went back-to-back on assists from Jack Gentilli before Wisconsin Dells (2-5-1, 0-3-1 Capitol) could make it on the board – a 30th minute goal by Will Van Dinter.
“(We) put some tough shots on goal which resulted in our favor,” Webber said. “We passed and moved the ball around well, which helped open space for our forwards.”
Douma finished off his hat trick with goals in the 32nd and 40th minutes on passes from Owen Odegard and Justin Knoebl. Bryson Jelle had two unassisted goals in the second half and Douma assisted Winklepleck in the 77th minute to cap the scoring.
The Raiders (7-0, 4-0) outshot Wisconsin Dells 18-9 in the game, including 13-4 on goal. Julian Lutz had four saves.
