MONROE — With the cancelation of the spring high school sports season, the end-of-year state awards also took a hit. The annual Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association all-star game was canceled, yet rosters were released based on stats from prior seasons.

Monroe’s Grace Tostrud was selected for the all-star game. Tostrud was a second-team Badger South all-conference pick a year ago, hitting .427 with 34 RBIs and four home runs. She was the only local player picked for the all-star game and will receive her award at a later date.

The WFSCA created a Senior Showcase originally scheduled for Aug. 3 and 4. All seniors in the state were eligible to participate.

The showcase, which was to practice Aug. 3 and play games Aug. 4, will now take place on just Aug. 3. Every player will get a chance to play in two games. The games will be held at Woodside Sports Complex in Mauston.

Local participants include Tostrud and Cheesemaker teammates Sadie Conway, Laurel Houston and Carissa Winters in the Division 2 games.

Argyle’s Leah Flanagan, Kyah Hendrickson, Claudia Miller and Mckenzee Granberg will play in the Division 5 showcase. The four Orioles helped the school win its first Six Rivers East Conference title in 2019.

Belleville’s Ella Campbell, Jillian Michaels and Josalyn Vorpahl will play in the D3 contest. Campbell and Michaels were also picked as all-stars.
