DARLINGTON — The Redbirds never let up in the second half and put away Platteville 64-39 in a nonconference boys basketball game Dec. 10.

Darlington led 25-13 at halftime and then ran off a 39-26 mark in the second half.

Carter Lancaster scored 21 for Darlington to lead all players in scoring. He added 10 rebounds, six assists and two steals. Cayden Rankin had 14 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four blocks. Curtis Stone finished with 12 points.

The Redbirds were 26 of 65 from the field (40%), and held Platteville to just 15 of 62 (24.1%) from the field, including a 2 for 22 (9%) blip from deep.


Shullsburg 72,  Black Hawk 21

SOUTH WAYNE — The Miners led 45-15 at halftime of their nonconference game at Black Hawk Dec. 10.

Brandon Hoppman scored 24 points to lead Shullsburg, with teammates Brendan Kudronowicz (12) and Chandler Kelly (13) also reaching double figures.

In other scores, Pecatonica defeated Albany 60-51, and Juda lost to Barneveld 59-25.


Girls basketball

Argyle 60,  North Crawford 29

ARGYLE — The Orioles scored a big nonconference win over North Crawford Dec. 10.

Argyle led 35-12 at halftime thanks to an 11-point effort by Tori Lantz. 

Eight of the Orioles’ nine players scored in the game, with Lantz leading the way with 21 points. Grace Ganshert finished with eight points.

The Orioles made just two 3-pointers but finished 12 of 13 from the free throw line.


Brodhead 50,  Big Foot 35

WALWORTH — Abbie Dix and Kiarra Moe each scored 10 points as the Cardinals used balanced scoring and a strong defensive game to score a Rock Valley Conference win Dec. 10.

Seven Brodhead players scored in the game, with Carissa Purdue and Onnikah Oliver each notching eight points. Big Foot was led by Lindsay Paulsen’s 15 points.

Brodhead led 25-15 at halftime.


Lancaster 63, Darlington 33

LANCASTER — The Arrows went up 32-15 at halftime and never looked back in their contest Dec. 10.

Marissa Gould was the only Darlington player in double figures in the contest, finishing with 11 points. Lancaster had four players reach double digits in scoring.


New Glarus 49, Dodgeville 45

DODGEVILLE — The Glarner Knights capped a come-from-behind win Dec. 9 thanks to a 27-15 run in the second half of their nonconference win over the Dodgers.

Dylan Knoll scored 16 points to lead New Glarus, with Shealyn Klosterman-Havens adding nine, Jaylynn Benson eight and Brook Watrud seven.

New Glarus trailed 30-22 at halftime.

In other area scores, Pecatonica was blown out by Potosi-Cassville Dec. 10, 61-31.
