MONROE — The Monroe Cheesemakers started their volleyball season hosting their 41st annual volleyball tournament on Saturday, August 30th, with teams from Watertown Luther Prep, Mt. Horeb, and Darlington. Mt. Horeb prevailed over Watertown Luther Prep in the championship match 25-15 and 25-20. Darlington defeated Monroe for 3rd place, 25-15, 25-14. The Redbirds topped the Cheesemakers 25-22 and 25-9 earlier. Darlington lost in two sets to Mount Horeb, 25-16 and 25-7. Against Watertown Luther Prep, the Redbirds lost in two sets to the Phoenix, 25-12 and 25-12. The Cheesemakers fell to the Phoenix in two sets, 25-11 and 25-9. Against the Mount Horeb Vikings, the Cheesemakers lost in two sets, 25-17 and 25-19.

The Cheesemakers traveled to Turner on Sept. 4. The week concludes with a tournament at Brodhead on Saturday Sept. 6.
