BELLEVILLE — Sugar River improved to 11-2 on the season with a 4-3 road win against Milton in a nonconference tilt last week.
The Raiders led 2-1 at halftime thanks to goals from Ella Woodmansee and Nikole Schultz in the first 13:28 of play. Holly Maynard made it a two score game less than three minutes into the second half. Hannah Boldebuck made it 4-1 with a successful penalty kick in the 49th minute. The Red Hawks added two more scores in the final 8:02 of regulation to keep it interesting.
Anya Brenkman had two assists and Kate Parman added another for Sugar River. Mackenzie Ohms had five saves in net for the Raiders and Savanna Minter had four.
“We celebrated prior to the game a TOPSoccer event, both schools participated and enjoyed activities and fun with TOPS athletes in the sun” Sugar River coach John Ziperski said.
