VERONA — The Sugar River Raiders edged Verona in wrestling Dec. 20 by a score of 36-30.
Eight of the 14 scheduled matches were forfeits, with three double forfeits. Verona forfeited three other weight classes, while the Raiders forfeited two.
All six matches that were wrestled ended in pins, with both teams splitting.
At 120, Sugar River’s Joe Quaglia pinned Jasmin Hall in 1:12. Holden Latsch, wrestling at 160, pinned Verona’s Spencer Lokken at 2:56. The Raiders also received a pin from Chase Messner at 195-pounds. Messner finished off Verona’s Adam Murphy in just 26 seconds.
