Raiders edge closer to Capitol conf. title

BELLEVILLE — The Sugar River Raiders scored three goals in the first half and moved to within two wins of yet another Capitol Conference title, having beaten second-place Watertown Luther Prep 4-0 Oct. 5.

At the 10:01 mark of the first half, Ryan Hagen put the ball into the back of the net, with Ryan Downing assisting. Less than 12 minutes later, Hagen assisted Gavin Boyum on a goal that made it 2-0. Carter Siegenthaler made it 3-0 at the 30:34 mark in the first half with an unassisted goal.

In the second half, at 60:05, Downing scored his team-high 19th goal of the season, with Boyum assisting.

Cam Kleiboer had 12 saves for the Raiders in net


Baraboo 12, Monroe 2

MONROE — The Cheesemakers struggled against a quality Thunderbirds team Oct. 5.

Baraboo sits in second place in the Badger West standings, behind only Oregon, which is ranked second in the entire state.

Carson Buholzer put Monroe on the board in the 44th minute, with Matthew Setterstrom assisting. Alex Torres scored unassisted less than four minutes later.
