Ponies ride a comeback, beat Juda 51-47

MONTICELLO — Monticello overcame a 13-point second-half deficit to defeat Juda 51-47 on Tuesday, Dec. 5. Hunter Grossen’s 2-for-2 trip to the free-throw line gave the Ponies a 45-44 lead with just under two minutes left — a lead they didn’t relinquish.

Ryer Indergand led all scorers with 30 points, and he was one rebound away from a double-double. Grossen led Monticello with 10 rebounds. 

Jayden Brown and Braydon Steinmann finished in double figures for Juda with 16 and 15 points, respectively. The duo accounted for all six of the Panthers’ 3-pointers. Brown also paced the Panthers with six rebounds.

BARNEVELD 36, ALBANY 34

ALBANY — Albany went toe-to-toe with the defending conference champions, exchanging the lead eight times before Barneveld took the lead for good with just under four minutes left. Terek Marx’s 2-for-2 trip to the free-throw line gave the Eagles the final edge.

Ty Durtschi led the Comets with 11 points, including two 3-pointers. Kaden Zurfluh tallied nine points, all from beyond the arc. Four different players grabbed four rebounds for Albany — Zurfluh, Brayden Bakken, Tyler Patchen and Drew Sertle.

NEW GLARUS 69, LODI 61

NEW GLARUS — The Knights used a 20-2 run to defeat the Blue Devils on Tuesday, Dec. 5.

Breckyn Thompson led all scorers with 21 points, including five 3-pointers. Jake Roth tallied 19 points with a pair of 3s, while Brett Warrell had 11 points with three baskets beyond the arc. The remaining 3-pointer for New Glarus came from Charlie Sarbacker (6 points). 

In other local basketball, Darlington, ranked No. 1 in Division 4, defeated Belleville 89-71.
