Ponies pick up pair of wins

ORFORDVILLE — Dalana Trumpy’s 21-point performance led Monticello past Parkview on Monday, Dec. 12.

The Ponies led 27-15 at halftime, and extended their lead for a 20-point margin of victory at 53-33.

Trumpy tallied 21 points with three 3-pointers. Ellie Gustafson also scored in double figures with 15 points. Molly Olson and Sadie Wilkins chipped in six points each. Despite the win, Monticello shot 50% from the free-throw line, going 8-for-16.

Parkview also had two players score in double figures. Chloe Mielke scored a team-leading 12 points, followed by Camilla Hauser with 10.


MONTICELLO 59, JUDA 43

MONTICELLO — For the second time in as many days, the Ponies girls basketball team won. 

Monticello hosted Six Rivers conference opponent Juda, limiting the Panthers to just 11 points in the first half. Juda rallied for 32 points in the second half, but Monticello kept pace to win.

Gustafson led the Ponies with 28 points, including three 3-pointers. Trumpy followed with 13 points, while Olson chipped in 10.

Jackie Nusbaum scored a team-leading 16 points, going 6-for-8 from the free-throw line. Ciarrah Davis and Briliey Swedlund each scored eight points.


ALBANY 57, BIG FOOT 23

WALWORTH — The Comets added another one to the win column, defeating the Chiefs on Tuesday, Dec. 13.

Albany had three scorers in double figures, as Avary Briggs led them all with 15 points. Abby Hollis and Gracie Freitag each had 12 points, while Hollis drained two 3-pointers. The Comets were 7-for-11 from the free-throw line, as Hollis and Anna Ellinger were perfect from the charity stripe.

Big Foot had six different players score — none of them in double digits.


WHITEWATER 59, MONROE 41

MONROE — In a preview of next year’s Rock Valley matchup, Whitewater defeated Monroe on Tuesday, Dec. 13.

Sydnee Conway led the Cheesemakers with 18 points, 12 of which came from beyond the arc. Abbey Matley also scored in double figures with 12 points. Monroe was without Taylor Jacobson, but head coach Patrick Kenny is hopeful for her return against Elkhorn.
