Ponies, NG, Darlington keep rolling with wins

JUDA — Monticello took care of business Feb. 6, knocking off Juda on the road 58-28.

With senior Reece Rufer unable to play, Rudy Wicker picked up the scoring slack for the Ponies, dropping 20 points on the Panthers. Peter Gustafson added 10 and Owen Ace nine for Monticello, which led 30-13 at halftime.

Gavin Kammerer scored 11 to lead Juda, with Payton Johnson adding eight points.

Two days later Juda lost by 12 to Cassville, 58-46. The Panthers fell behind 28-22 at halftime.

Kammerer led Juda with 17 points, while Trent Anderson had 12 and Johnson nine.


New Glarus 77, Wisconsin Heights 65

NEW GLARUS — The Glarner Knights took a 40-28 lead into halftime and never looked back in their Capitol South win Feb. 7.

Garrett James had 23 points to lead New Glarus, while teammate Mason Martinson added 22. Deven Vasquez chipped in with eight, and Will Melland and Nathan Streiff each had seven.


Brodhead 68, Big Foot 57

WALWORTH — Four Cardinals reached double figures in a Rock Valley Conference win Feb. 7.

Owen Leifker (16), Cade Walker (15), Connor Green (13) and Cody Malcook (11) all scored more than 10 points for Brodhead, while Brady Malkow added eight. Brodhead led 31-24 at halftime.


Darlington 62, Fennimore 51

FENNIMORE — Curtis Stone scored 22 to pace the Redbirds in a solid win over the Eagles Feb. 7.

Carter Lancaster finished with 11 points and Ross Stauffacher added eight for Darlington, which led by just one point at halftime.

In other area basketball scores from Feb. 6, Argyle defeated Black Hawk 54-41 and Pecatonica lost to Barneveld 45-38.
