FENNIMORE — Colton Schraepfer scored 25 points and Jaden Hendrickson had 20 for Pecatonica, but the Vikings lost to Fennimore 71-66 in a nonconference game Dec. 21.
The Eagles (7-2) led 31-20 after a lackluster first half. Despite a second half surge by the Vikings (6-3), Fennimore was able to close out the game with a victory.
Fennimore’s Adam Larson led all scorers with 27 points, including a 5-for-6 effort from beyond the 3-point line. Reid Larson had 15 for the Eagles, and Kellen Kenney notched a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Black Hawk 71, Monticello 63
MONTICELLO — The Warriors jumped out to a 27-19 lead at the half and held on in a second half that featured 88 combined points in just 18 minutes of play.
Four Black Hawk players reached double figures in the game. Colby Argall scored 25 to lead the Warriors (3-3, 3-1 Six Rivers East), with Conner Meyer (14), Avery Baumgartner (12) and Kyle Lovelace (11) all with key contributions.
Black Hawk was 7 of 13 from beyond the arc and finished 20-for-31 from the free throw line. Meyer had 11 rebounds, and Argall, Lovelace and Tyler Triem (six points, six rebounds) combined for 10 steals.
Jeffrey Ace had 21 points to lead Monticello, which also got 19 from Peter Gustafson and nine from Simon Blohowiak and Reece Rufer.
With the win, Black Hawk moves into first place in the Six Rivers East by a half of a game. Monticello (4-3, 2-1) is now .5 games back of first in a tie with Albany and Pecatonica.
Albany 66, Juda 47
JUDA — The Comets picked up a conference win Dec. 21 thanks to a 25-point effort by Josh Dahl.
Albany (3-3, 2-1) led Juda (0-10, 0-4) 34-27 at halftime thanks in part to Dahl, who had 17 in the frame. In the second half Corbin Kelley scored 10 of his 17 points to aid in the scoring for the Comets. Jamison Stauffacher also reached double figures for Albany, finishing with 14 points.
The Comets pounded the ball inside all night, scoring 22 baskets from inside the arc to just three from deep. Albany was 9 of 14 from the free throw line.
Dominic Taylor had 14 points to lead the Panthers, which hit six 3s in the game to just eight 2s. Juda was also 14 of 18 from the charity stripe.
Edgerton 66, Brodhead 36
EDGERTON — The Tide rolled the Cardinals Dec. 21 thanks to a 35-13 run in the first half.
Drew Hanson led Edgerton (3-3, 3-2 Rock Valley) with 20 points, while Clayton Jenny had 13. Edward Turner scored 11 for Brodhead (2-5, 1-5), which also received an eight-point effort from Cade Walker.
Girls Basketball
Marshall 76, New Glarus 52
MARSHALL — The New Glarus girls basketball team lost to one of the top teams in the state before the holiday break, falling to Marshall in the Capitol South Conference opener Dec. 21.
The Cardinals (8-0, 1-0) are the reigning WIAA Division 3 state champions, having lost just twice in their last 44 games.
New Glarus (4-4, 0-1) fell behind 38-27 in the first half, but Marshall ran away with the game in the second half, outscoring the Knights 38-25 over the final 18 minutes.
Lexi Krause had 16 points to lead New Glarus, while Jaylynn Benson scored 15 and Morgan Hustad finished with eight. Marshall was led by sophomores Anna Lutz (23) and Mia Morel (19), while senior Ceraya Morel (11) also notched double figures.
The Glarner Knights were set to face off with River Ridge/Scales Mound at the Cuba City Holiday Tournament Dec. 27 and host Belleville for a conference game Jan. 3.
