Pec-Argyle competes at Muscoda, Darlington preps at state course

MUSCODA — Pecatonica-Argyle’s boys cross country team finished 11th out of 17 teams at the Riverdale Invitational Oct. 12. Boscobel was the team champion. Wisconsin Heights-Barneveld senior Christian Patzka won the meet by over a minute with a time of 15 minutes, 55.9 seconds.

Troy Nickels was the first Viking to cross the finish line, taking 30th with a time of 18:31.1. Payton Flannery (39th, 19:01.6), David Tisch (49, 19:19.4), Ridge Toay (74th, 19:53.7) and Brady Penniston (90th, 20:22.2) all scored for Pecatonica-Argyle.

On the girls side, Emily Zimmerman finished 100th overall with a time of 27:08.2, with teammates Sydney Webster (102nd, 27:20.2) and Allie Godfrey (104th, 27:20.4) following right behind.


Darlington boys 10th, girls sixth at Rapids invite

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Darlington’s girls cross country team was sixth and the boys were 10th at the Wisconsin Rapids Invitational Oct. 12. The meet brought in runners from over 20 schools and took place on the same course as the annual state championship.

Judith Meister was 13th overall for the Redbirds with a time of 20:39.1. Ashlynn Norgard was 22nd (21:06.3). Morgan Black (40th, 21:57.7), Allyson Meyers (44th, 22:10.7) and Maddy Crist (55th, 22:45.8) all scored for the Redbirds.

Sun Prairie won the girls team title with 28 points, scoring five runners in the top 12. Sun Prairie’s Kate Kopotic won the race by 55 seconds with a time of 18:45.5.

Stevens Point won the boys race, scoring 21 points and placing five runners in the top nine and seven in the top 13. Jake Lepak of Stevens Point won the race with a time of 16:01.0.

Darlington’s Rhett Reuter was the first Redbird to cross the finish line, coming in 39th overall with a time of 17:54.4. George West (51st, 18:17.9), Willie Riechers (57th, 18:27.1), Cristian Gutierrez (73rd, 18:52.5), and Caleb Weaver (95th, 19:35.6) all scored for Darlington.
