JUDA — The Orioles jumped out to a 46-13 lead at halftime to bury the Panthers and stay in second place in the Six Rivers East with a 67-26 win Dec. 11.

Jena Saalsaa had 13 of her team-high 15 points in the half, and Kirsten Ostby scored all 11 of her points in the frame to help put Argyle ahead for good. Alysabeth Lantz had eight points, and McKenzee Granberg had 10 for the Orioles, which saw 11 players score in the contest.

“Kirsten did a great job for us being the floor general,” Argyle head coach Nicole Allison said. “Her defense was on point as well, as she had quite a few steals and capitalized on them with quick baskets.”

The Orioles (4-1, 1-1) hit just one 3-pointer on the night and finished 8 of 11 at the free throw line. The biggest damage was done in the paint.

“Tori Lantz and Leah Flanagan also stepped up and did a nice job working inside for position. With them working hard posting up, it allowed for Jena Saalsaa to get free and found herself in the paint scoring off of put-backs and out-rebounding everyone around her,” Allison said.

Montana Steinmann led Juda with 15 points. The Panthers (1-7, 0-3) were 8 of 15 from the stripe and hit just eight shots from the field – two of which from deep. Juda also had just four players score in the game.
