Orioles edge Comets in 3 sets; ’Birds win

ALBANY — Argyle won a hard-fought match Oct. 1, toppling the host Comets in three sets 26-24, 25-22, 26-24.

Grace Ganshert led the way offensively with 16 kills for the visiting Orioles, while setter Megan Johnson had 25 assists. Maggie Godfrey tallied 14 kills and 31 digs, and Tory Lantz finished with six blocks and an ace. Breann Flannery also had an ace for Argyle.

Brianna Dahl finished with 13 kills and 10 assists for Albany, while Mady Conway walked off the gym floor with a stat line of nine kills, five aces and 14 digs. Jada Flannery led the Comets with two blocks, and Payton Firth added 10 assists.

In other area action Oct. 1, Darlington swept Boscobel 25-17, 25-14, 25-13.
