ORANGEVILLE - Anicka Kraft's single in the bottom of the seventh propelled Orangeville past Juda-Albany in a nonconference game on Monday, April 3. Kraft finished the day 3-for-4 at the plate.
After four complete innings, Juda-Albany had a 4-2 lead. Lavinia Rufer led off the inning with a fullcount walk. Ciarrah Davis then followed with a bunt single. Alana Durtschi drove both home with a two-out double to center.
The Panthers added another two runs in the top of the fourth with a two-run shot over the right field fence from Briliey Swedlund.
The Broncos tied the game with a two-run fifth inning. Laney Holland led off with a triple to left, and Addyson Wheeler drove her home with a single.
Orangeville scored its sec- ond run on a fielder's choice by Leah Baker.
Juda-Albany took the lead again in the seventh, as Davis led off with a single.
Once again, Durtschi doubled to bring Davis home.
In the bottom half of the inning, Orangeville's first three batters reached on two errors and a double.
Starting pitcher Avary Briggs intentionally walked Baker to load the bases, creating a force out at each base. Kraft came through with a walk-off single, though, to win the game.
Durtschi led the Panthers at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Davis, Myah Johnson and Gracie Freitag also recorded multiple hits. Avary Briggs suffered the loss, throwing four innings. She gave up one earned run on five hits.
Emerson Briggs threw two innings, also giving up one earned run on five hits.
RIVERDALE 8, DARLINGTON 5
DARLINGTON - Riverdale's five-run sev enth inning propelled the Chieftains to a conference win on Monday, April 3.
Kylie Butler and Chance Lange both went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Redbirds. Lange, Jaylyn Schwartz and Lylah Norgard tallied an RBI each. Butler suffered the loss in the circle. She threw 5 2/3 innings, giving up five earned runs on four hits.
BASEBALL: PECATONICA 9, RIVER VALLEY 4
RIVER VALLEY - The Vikings batted around the order for a seven-run fifth inning in its win over the Blackhawks on Monday, April 4.
At leadoff, Tyler McKeon went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. The remaining hit came from Carson Kurschner. In four plate appearances, Elijah Knutson drew three walks. Coy Ruegsegger collected the win, throwing 1 2/3 innings. He gave up two runs, both of which were unearned. McKeon record ed the save with a hitless inning.
WARREN 16, BLACK HAWK 0
SOUTH WAYNE - Despite two hits from Dylan Haldiman, Black Hawk suffered a nonconference loss to Warren on Monday, April 4.
Haldiman recorded the only two Warrior hits, but Carter Baumgartner and Lane Jenson also reached base with walks. Haldiman suffered the loss on the bump, going 1 1/3 innings.
Of the 15 runs he gave up, just four were earned. He struck out three and walked three.
