OSHKOSH — The North won two of the three games at the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association All-Star games at Titan Stadium July 20.
The South won the 8-player all-star game 21-6, but the North took home victories in the Small School (21-14) and Large School (19-11) games.
The South Small School team featured several local players — Black Hawk’s Rece Shelton and Colby Argall, Pecatonica-Argyle’s Colton Schraepfer, Belleville’s Daniel Enloe, Brodhead-Juda’s Jeffrey Williams, Mineral Point’s Curtis Cox and Cuba City’s Brayden Holzemer.
Shelton had one carry for nine yards, while Argall had two catches for 26 yards. Holzemer also had two catches for 22 yards.
On defense, Schraepfer and Shelton each had four total tackles and two solos, while Williams made a pair of solo tackles. Cox was 2 for 2 on extra point attempts.
The South opened the scoring with a 19-yard touchdown run by Darios Crawley-Reid of Martin Luther with 5:34 left in the first quarter. The North countered with a touchdown run by Kade Ehrike with just over a minute to play in the period to tie it at 7. The North made it 14-7 just before halftime on a 9-yard run by Bryce Huettner.
The South brought it back to even with a fumble recovery for a score with 4:17 left in the third quarter, but the North won it on Ehrike’s second TD of the game, a rumble from a yard out with 8:11 to play.
The South gained just 47 yards on the ground on 22 carries in the intense heat. South passer Mitch Waechter was 11 of 23 through the air for 118 yards and an interception. The North was 0-for-5 passing with an INT. On the ground, the North ran 42 times for 142 yards.
