MADISON — Two goals in the second period was not enough for Monroe in an 11-2 conference loss to Edgewood on Tuesday, Jan. 2.
Wyatt Janecke and Cameron Newcomer scored five minutes apart in the second period to make it a 3-2 game, but the Crusaders scored eight unanswered goals for the win. Three of Edgewood’s 11 goals were short-handed.
Owen Porter, Matt Richter and Owen Koch had two goals each. With three assists, Porter led the Crusaders with five points. Edgewood outshot Monroe 48-30. In net, Hayden Reuhl recorded 28 saves for a .933 save percentage.
Janecke tallied a goal and assist for a team-best two points. In goal, Brock Brandli gave up 11 goals with 37 saves for a .771 save percentage.
