MONROE — Pecatonica-Argyle will be represented by five wrestlers at the WIAA Division 3 sectional in Mineral Point, while Darlington-Black Hawk will have two grapplers competing.
At 106 pounds, Pec-Argyle’s Dawson Gross (26-11) will take the mat against Damian Mellen (4-17) of Cashton. A second-round matchup against either Fennimore’s Brody Lee (25-10) or Royall’s Nolan McKittrick (38-3) awaits Gross, who was the Parkview Regional champion. Lee is the No. 2-ranked wrestler in the state at 106, according to Wisconsin Wrestling Online, while McKittrick is third. Remington Bontreger (42-1) of Lancaster is No. 1 in the state and is on the other half of the bracket.
Noah Krahenbuhl, a state-qualifier last year, is back at sectionals at 120 pounds for Pec-Argyle. The sophomore Viking has a 23-1 record this year and is the ninth-ranked wrestler in his weight class in the state. Krahenbuhl faces New Lisbon’s Dalton Lee (24-12) in the first round, with either Fennimore’s Mason Lull (30-12) or North Crawford-Seneca’s Beau Jelinek (11-11) in the second round. Lull is the fifth-ranked wrestler in the division.

Darlington-Black Hawk senior Kolbe Ubersox (33-4) qualified for state in each of his first three years as a WarBird, taking fifth as a sophomore at 132 and then third last year in the same weight class. The school’s all-time wins and pins leader, Ubersox is also the No. 1-ranked wrestler in the state at 138.
Ubersox will face De Soto’s Alex Scoville (23-11) in the first round with either New Lisbon’s Jacob Rogers (32-5) or Ray Bach (26-15) of Deerfield in Round 2. Rogers is the seventh-ranked wrestler in the 138-class. Second-ranked Trevor Wanek (25-13) of Fennimore is the No. 2 wrestler who dropped down from 145 for the postseason. Ubersox defeated Wanek in the third-place match at state a year ago by pin-fall.
At 152 pounds, Pec-Argyle junior Easton Schraepfer (36-7) will face Mineral Point’s Nolan Springer (31-8) in the first round, with either Ian Kaczmarowski (12-14) of Aquinas or Hillsboro’s Yobani Mora (19-7) awaiting in the second round. Springer is the No. 8-ranked wrestler in the weight class, dropping from 160 where he spent much of the season. Schraepfer received an honorable mention mark in the most recent rankings.
Freshman Tate Hirsch (16-15) of Pec-Argyle will face Troy Klein (34-7) of Lancaster in the first round of the 182-pound bracket. In the second round will be either De Soto’s Cezar Garcia (21-11) or Ithaca-Weston’s Riley Astle (21-13). Only Riverdale’s Tyler Hach (32-9), honorable mention, is ranked of the Mineral Point sectional qualifiers at 182 pounds.
Senior Lucas Gilbertson returns to sectionals at 195 pounds. A year ago, Gilbertson was a state qualifier in the same weight class. This year, Gilbertson (33-10) faces Ithaca-Weston’s Cade Nettesheim (30-6) in the first round of sectionals, with either Aquinas junior Noah DeGroot (21-7) or Fennimore junior Aaron Ragels (31-9) awaiting in Round 2. Nettesheim is the sixth-ranked wrestler in his weight class in the state, while Gilbertson is one slot below at seventh. Ragels is honorable mention.
In the heavyweight class, Darlington-Black Hawk junior Leif Bredeson (32-5) will face Parkview’s Gage Everson (12-14) in the first round, with either Kickapoo-La Farge’s Ruger Johnson (6-6) or New Lisbon’s Joshua Woggon (30-9) up next in Round 2. Bredeson is ranked eighth in the state in the heavyweight class in Division 3, and is the only ranked wrestler at 285 in the Mineral Point sectional.
