NGM brings home boys, girls Capitol South championships
7 Knights earn all-conference honors for boys, five for girls

POYNETTE — The New Glarus-Monticello boys and girls teams brought home Capitol South Conference championships Oct. 19.

The boys team defeated Cambridge-Deerfield by one point, 37 to 38, for the top spot. Wisconsin Heights (84) was third, Marshall (97) fourth, Belleville (126) fifth and Waterloo (158) sixth. The girls team scored 44 points, ahead of second place Wisconsin Heights (53), Cambridge-Deerfield (73), Marshall (101), Belleville (111) and Waterloo (121).

Only the top five runners of each school count toward team scoring, yet seven Knights earned all-conference honors in the boys race.

Christian Patzke of Wisconsin Heights won the meet with a time of 16:30.33. Adam Nelson (5th, 17:45.34), Joe Quaglia (6th, 17:56.52) and Evan Guenther (7th, 17:57.13) were all first-team all-conference for New Glarus-Monticello. Second-team all-conference runners for the Knights include Ty Ready (9th, 18:12.46), Conor McCoy (19th, 18:18.04), Tom Nelson (13th, 18:31.92) and Braylon Hoesly (14th, 18:38.13). 

On the girls side, Annika Ziperski (4th, 21:15.26) and Tenley Faber (7th, 22:30.42) were each first-team all-conference for the Knights. Dayna Karls (9th, 22:51.55), Molly Molencamp (10th, 23:13.50) and Whitney Disch (14th, 23:41.24) were second-team all-conference.
