New Glarus topples Monticello

NEW GLARUS — After a two-game skid, the Knights rebounded with a 76-30 nonconference win against Monticello on Tuesday, Dec. 13.

New Glarus led 46-13 at halftime, and outscored the Ponies 30-17 in the second half to secure the win.

AC Strok led the Knights with 17 points and six rebounds. Breckyn Thompson and Ethan Friedrich also scored in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively. New Glarus made nine 3-pointers in the game, with two each from Friedrich and Brett Warrell. Max Parman and Ja’Kodey Strahm grabbed five rebounds each.

Ryer Indergand scored a team-leading 12 points for Monticello. He also recorded the team’s only 3-pointer. Peyton Smith was the next highest scorer with eight points. Jackson Eyler led the team with three rebounds.

Both teams had 16 chances at the free-throw line with New Glarus capitalizing on 13 of them. Monticello, on the other hand, made seven of them.


ARGYLE 60, BELMONT 38

ARGYLE — The Orioles rolled over Belmont in a nonconference game on Tuesday, Dec. 13.

Just four players scored for Argyle, but all of them were in double figures. Max Godfrey and William Helfvogt led the Orioles with 16 points each. Helfvogt recorded both of Argyle’s 3-pointers. Ike Waage and Gavin McNett scored 14 points each. 


BRODHEAD 84, WHITEWATER 53

WHITEWATER — Cullen Walker and Brody Riese led Brodhead to a conference win with their 20-plus-point performances on Tuesday, Dec. 13.

Walker scored 23 points to lead the Cardinals, with nine of them coming from beyond the arc. Riese recorded a double-double with 20 points and a team-leading 12 rebounds. Sam Searls also scored in double figures with 14 points and two 3-pointers. Jaxon Dooley chipped in 10 points, too. 


MG 67, MONROE 53

MONROE — The Cheesemakers fell to the Eagles on Tuesday, Dec. 13, Monona Grove scored 13 transition points and 11 points on turnovers.

George Brukwicki led Monroe with 15 points, 12 of which came from beyond the arc. The remaining three 3-pointers came from Keatin Sweeney, Tucker Markham and Charlie Wiegel. James Seagreaves contributed to the offense with 12 points and a team-leading eight rebounds. Markham also scored in double figures with 10 points. 


BENTON 65, ALBANY 33

BENTON — The Comets suffered a road nonconference loss on Tuesday, Dec. 13 as Benton scored 19 points off 13 Albany turnovers.

Offensively, Brayden Bakken and Ethan Koss led Albany with 10 points and two 3-pointers each. The remaining 3-pointer came from Drew Sertle. Gage Roth grabbed a team-leading eight rebounds, seven of which came on the defensive end.

Both teams shot near 50% at the free-throw line, as Albany was 4-for-7 while Benton was 4-for-8.

In other basketball action, Juda fell to Warren 63-18.
