Nine teams competed in the Richard Glendenning Track Invitational on Thursday, April 3 at Monroe High School and the Monroe Cheesemakers girls and boys teams each took first place. Monroe girls took first place with 191.5 points. Brodhead-Juda was second with 110.5 points, and Pecatonica-Argyle was third with 98.5 points. In boys, the Cheesemakers scored 192 points to take first place. Platteville finished second with 144 points, and Sugar River placed third with 97.5 points.
In the girls 100 meter dash, sophomore Elliana Shank of Brodhead-Juda earned first place with a time of 13.97 seconds. In the 200 meter dash, junior Miley Hanson of Monroe was the first-place finisher with a time of 29.11 seconds. The Cheesemakers picked up another 10 points in the girls 400 meter dash as junior Aniyah Jackson-Bey took first place with a run of 1:05.35. The girls 800 meter run belonged to the Cheesemakers as junior Mya Wild captured the run in 2:38.70. The girls 1600 meter run saw Adalee Berget of Darlington, a junior, finish in 1st place in 5:27.24, a meet record. In another long-distance run, the 3200 meters, freshman Vickie Wolf of the Monroe Cheesemakers took home 1st place in 12:21.31. Argyle-Pecatonica dominated the girls 100 meter hurdles as junior Loretta Tisch (17.92 seconds) and sophomore Brooke Wellnitz (18.33 seconds) finished first and second, respectively. Tisch was also the winner of the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 51.20 seconds.


The girls 4x100 meter relay was won by Brodhead-Juda’s relay team of sophomore Bernice Bevars, junior Taiya Hawkins, senior Stella Arn, and sophomore Kennedy Lerch in 55.95 seconds. The top area finisher in the 4x200 meter relay was Sugar River’s relay team of sophomore Marie Besley, senior Addison Edge, freshman Vivian Lancaster, and sophomore Kalia Malaise, who took 2nd place in 1:59.20. The Monroe Cheesemakers got a first-place finish from their 4x400 meter relay team as freshman Alivia Mosher, junior Aniya Jackson-Bey, junior Miley Hanson, and sophomore Maryella Green crossed the finish line in 4:32.65. Another first-place in the relays for the Monroe Cheesemakers occurred in the 4x800 as Mosher, freshman Kaylen Cassidy, Hanson, and Green cruised the track in 10:41.91.
Senior Madi Brown of Brodhead-Juda took 1st place in the girls high jump. Brodhead-Juda’s Elliana Shank was first in the girls pole vault and the girls long jump. Loretta Tisch and Brooke Wellnitz of Argyle-Pecatonica finished 1-2 in the girls triple jump. Senior Lillyana Morales powered the Albany Comets in the shot put and the discus. Morales was first in the shot put with a toss of 29 feet, three inches. In the discus, Morales won first place with a throw of 92 feet, 11 inches.


In the boys meet, sophomore Cohen Henze of Brodhead-Juda won the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.98 seconds. Henze also won the 200 meter dash in 24.12 seconds. Darlington’s Isaac Crist, a senior, was the winner of the 400 meter dash in 53.48 seconds. Sophomore Lukas Gerber of the Monroe Cheesemakers took second place in the 800 meter run, completing the run in 2:11.9. In the 1,600 meter run, senior Benjamin Erdley of Monroe was 2nd in 5:09.28 and senior Kylan Ditsworth of the Cheesemakers was 3rd in 5:24.58. The Cheesemakers finished 1-2-3 in the 3,200 meter run with junior Tre Dammen (10:08.58), senior Padriac Houston (10:56.56) and freshman Weston Huntsman (11:10.03) taking the top three spots. Darlington’s Danick Haesler, a senior, was the top finisher in the 110 meter hurdles. Monroe junior Frank Wolf was the first place finisher in the 300 meter hurdles in 44.23 seconds.
The Cheesemakers won the 4x100 meter relay as junior Mekhi Brown, junior Bradley Holst, sophomore Caleb Mazahreh, and sophomore Ryan Roelli posted a time of 49.55 seconds. The Sugar River Raiders were the 1st place team in the 4x200 meter relay with junior Sawyer O’Flanagan, senior Andrew Sarbacker, senior Charlie Sarbacker, and sophomore Charley Spiegel recording a winning time of 1:35.85.


The 4x400 meter relay saw Darlington win with freshman Lucas Olson, sophomore Marcus Kendall, sophomore Mason Wiegel, and senior Isaac Crist with a first-place time of 3:42.92, followed by Monroe’s team of junior Jy’Shon Broitzman, senior Seth Schmidt, Frank Wolf, and senior Bryce Roelli in second place in 3:53.97. Another relay yielded another successful result for the Monroe Cheesemakers as the 4x800 team of sophomore Elijah Cook, Tre Dammen, sophomore Kamrin Gerber-Reamer, and sophomore Lukas Gerber captured the race in 8:33.61.
First place in the boys high jump went to junior Tegan Pinnow of Brodhead-Juda. Seniors Charlie Sarbacker and Andrew Sarbacker of Sugar River were second and third in the pole vault. Senior Alex Roe of Monticello was third in the long jump with a jump of 18 feet, 8.5 inches. Isaac Crist of Darlington was fourth with a jump of 18 feet, five inches. Seth Schmidt of Monroe captured 1st place in the boys triple jump with a jump of 41 feet, 11.50 inches. Frank Wolf of the Cheesemakers was second with his attempt at 38 feet, 7.50 inches. Junior Waylon Yoder racked up another 10 points for the Monroe Cheesemakers with his day in the shot put, taking first place with a toss of 40 feet, .25 inches. Freshman Xavier Duncan of Brodhead-Juda claimed second place in the discus throw with a heave of 123 feet, nine inches.
