Argyle-Pec Golf Team Places 2nd At WIAA Regional
SPRING GREEN — The Argyle-Pecatonica golf team shot a score of 356 to take second place at the WIAA Division 3 Regional held Tuesday, May 27 at House on The Rock Resort in Spring Green.
Williams Bay won the event with a 353. Darlington was third at 358.
Argyle-Pec senior Alex Ruetten and Darlington senior Olin Johnson each carded a 75, which was the best score at the regional.
Argyle-Pec sophomore Avari Steiner shot 83 to take third place. Colhman Schlimgen added a 95, and Max Robertson finished his team’s scoring with a 103. The entire Argyle-Pec team advances to the sectional meet scheduled for Tuesday, June 3 at Delbrook Golf Club in Delavan.
“It wasn’t looking too good for us going to the back 9,” said Argyle-Pec coach Chuck Chandler. “There were five teams within four strokes after the nine-hole scores were posted. Alex and Avari did their jobs again for us shooting solid rounds. Alex was medalist with a 75. We will need to get two more scores in the 80s at sectionals from other kids on the team to have a chance at going to state. That’s our goal.”
Darlington’s entire team finished with scores under 100. Alex Fox had the second best Redbirds score with a 92. Mitch Martin finished with a 93, Eli Aird had a 98 and Tag Gille was right behind him with a 99.
The state tournament will be held Monday and Tuesday, June 9-10 at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison.
