WAUNAKEE — Monroe’s girls basketball team lost 64-51 to Waunakee in a nonconference game Nov. 26.
The Warriors took a commanding lead, going up 46-29 by halftime.
Megan Benzschawel led Monroe with 17 points, while Grace Tostrud had 10, Grace Mathiason 9 and Taylor Jacobson 8. Elena Maier led Waunakee with 22 points.
The next game for the Cheesemakers (1-1) is Dec. 3 at defending WIAA Division 3 state champion Marshall.

SHULLSBURG 57, DARLINGTON 51
DARLINGTON — The Miners scored an impressive come-from-behind nonconference win, knocking off Lafayette County rival Darlington.
The Redbirds led 26-25 at halftime, but Shullsburg scored 32 points in the second half to take control of the game.
Lizzie Schwartz led Darlington with 12 points, while Maddie Crist had 10 and Brenna McDonald 9.
Annie Wiegel led Shullsburg with 16 points, while Layla Alt had 13 and Kayla Klotz had 9.
NEW GLARUS 92, BENTON 14
BENTON — The Glarner Knights showed little mercy in routing the Zephyrs in a nonconference game.
New Glarus led 51-5 at halftime and outscored Benton 41-9 in the second half.
Kailey Fawcett led Benton with 8 points.
BELLEVILLE 62, ARGYLE 54
ARGYLE — Maggie Godfrey scored 21 points for the Orioles, but the Wildcats were too much in the nonconference contest.
Belleville took a 38-22 lead into halftime and held off an Argyle comeback to seal the win.
Allie Godfrey had 10 points for Argyle, while Grace Ganshert had nine, McKenzee Granberg 8 and Victoria Lantz 7.
ALBANY 60, BELMONT 44
BELMONT — Brianna Dahl had 15 points and Kristin O’Bel had 12 as the Comets used a 30-12 run in the first half to put away the Braves in a nonconference game.
Albany staked itself to an 18-point lead at halftime and cruised in the second half. Jada Flannery finished with 8 points and Payton Wachholz had 7 for the Comets. Ashley Freeman and Rilyn Moots led Belmont with 12 points each.
PECATONICA 61, MADISON COUNTRY DAY 27
MADISON — Freshman Chloe Schraepfer made 10 baskets and led the Vikings with 27 points in the nonconference win.
Sydney Eaton had 12 points and Tessa Green had 10 for Pecatonica, which led 28-12 at halftime before outscoring Country Day 33-15 in the second half.
ABUNDANT LIFE/ST. AMBROSE 54, JUDA 21
MADISON — The Panthers fell behind 29-16 at halftime and never recovered. Abundant Life/St. Ambrose outscored Juda 25-5 in the second half.
Maeya Bakke led all scorers with 18, while AL/SA teammates Addy Schmiesing and Kachi Iwuagwu each had 13.
In other area scores from Nov. 26, Jefferson beat Brodhead 40-28 in a Rock Valley Conference contest.

MONTICELLO 44, JOHNSON CREEK 36, OT
MONTICELLO — The Ponies trailed 22-20 at halftime but were able to grind their way into a tie game as time expired in regulation. In the overtime period, Monticello outscored Johnson Creek 9-1.
Mackie Errthum led all scorers with 14 points for the Ponies, with teammate Alexa Siegenthaler adding 11. Lexi Swanson had 10 to lead Johnson Creek.

JEFFERSON — Abbie Dix had 8 points and Kiarra Moe had 7.
Jefferson led 11-10 at halftime.

EVANSVILLE 67, NEW GLARUS 65
NEW GLARUS — The defending WIAA Division 4 state champions lost in the season opener in a tight contest throughout.
Evansville led the Glarner Knights 34-31 at halftime and by the end of the second half held on for the two-point win.
Darris Schuett scored 29 points for New Glarus, while Nathan Streiff had 16, Mason Martinson 8 and Connor Siegenthaler 7. The Knights were 13 of 14 from the charity stripe and hit six 3-pointers.
Evansville hit just three 3s and equaled New Glarus in 2-point field goals at 17. However, the Blue Jays were 24 of 35 from the free throw line, including a 12 for 18 mark in the second half. Evansville had four players in double figures, led by Sulley Gekse’s 18. Mason Miller added 13 and Seth Maag and Aaron Anderson each finished with 11.
JUDA 36, MADISON ABUNDANT LIFE/ST. AMBROSE 34
JUDA — The Panthers scored a nonconference win in their season opener despite a 3 for 15 performance at the free throw line.
Trent Anderson led Juda with 10 points and Aaron Makos had 7. Juda hit five 3s, while AL/SA made six and went 4 for 12 from the stripe.
Juda led 17-13 at halftime.
In other area boys basketball scores, Monticello defeated Parkview in a nonconference game 85-68 Nov. 26.
BOYS HOCKEY
SAUK PRAIRIE 5, MONROE 2
SAUK CITY — Cade Janecke and Hayden Roth each had a goal and an assist, but the Cheesemakers co-op lost a tough nonconference game Nov. 26.
Heath Bear made 61 saves in net and finished with a 93.8 save percentage.
“Heath Bear played very well,” Monroe coach Barry Einbeck said.
Monroe led 1-0 after the first period as Janecke lit the lamp just 33 seconds into the game. Sauk Prairie outshot the Cheesemakers 15-3 in the first period and 25-6 in the second period. Two Eagles goals in the second put the Cheesemakers behind 2-1. In the third, Sauk Prairie scored twice more before Monroe could answer. Roth’s goal came with 1:06 left in regulation, but Sauk Prairie netted another with 34 seconds left in the game to seal it. Sauk Prairie outshot Monroe 21-3 in the third period.
Payton Stauffacher and Jared Dillon also had assists for Monroe.
