Monroe gets back on track with win

BELOIT — The Cheesemakers co-op never trailed in a 4-1 win over Beloit Memorial Jan. 16.

Payton Stauffacher scored an unassisted power play goal in the first period to put Monroe up 1-0. The lead was doubled in the second when Hayden Roth lit the lamp off with assists coming from Jared Dillon and Stauffacher. Minutes later, Blaze Janecke scored off a pass from Roman Bauer to make it 3-0.

Beloit (2-11) scored its only goal of the game with just over five minutes to play in the second period.

In the third period, Roth added a second goal with assists coming from Cooper Dreyfus and Cade Janecke. Roth is tied for seventh in the state in goals with 22. 

Heath Bear had 25 saves as Monroe (13-3) out-shot Beloit 57-26.
