SAUK CITY — The Cheesemakers lost to Sauk Prairie 7-0 Sept. 14. The Eagles led 2-0 at halftime, but scored three goals in three minutes in the middle of the second half to pull away.
Sauk Prairie had 28 shots on Monroe, including 14 on goal, while the Cheesemakers could get only two shots to Eagles goalkeeper Riley Jelinek.
On Sept. 13, Monroe pulled to a 2-2 tie with Cambridge-Deerfield in a nonconference game.
Alex Barradas scored off of an assist by Aaron Ziolkowski to give the Cheesemakers a 1-0 lead, but the score would be tied at 1-1 by halftime. Daniel Lapp gave Monroe a brief 2-1 advantage off a pass from Victor Vasquez in the second half, but again Cambridge-Deerfield pulled even.
The Cheesemakers had 11 shots in the game, including six on goal. Goalkeeper Devan Schulte saved six shots for Monroe, which was back on the pitch yesterday against Madison Edgewood. Monroe travels to Fort Atkinson Thursday and is at Waunakee Friday in a crossover match.
