MONROE — The Cheesemakers won their first conference game since Sept. 7, 2017 with a 2-1 come-from-behind win against Watertown Oct. 8 at T.R. Holyoke Field.

The Goslings (1-11-1, 0-4 Badger South) scored just 6 minutes, 45 seconds into the game to put the Cheesemakers (2-10, 1-4) behind.

Monroe kept working, however, and just after the 30-minute mark passed, Charlie Frehner sent a pass to Aaron Ziolkowski, who knocked in the equalizer. At the 54:39 mark in the second half, Alex Barradas scored the game-winning goal.

Julio Vasquez played keeper for 76 minutes, recording four saves for the Cheesemakers, while Aidan Lambert had two saves in 14 minutes of work.

The win stopped a 17-game Badger South losing streak for the Cheesemakers, which were set to face East Troy/Palmyra-Eagle in a nonconference match Oct. 10, and then host Jefferson Oct. 11 at Honey Creek Park. Monroe’s last home game of the year is set for Oct. 15 at T.R. Holyoke Field against Milton (8-6-1, 3-2), with the final regular season game to be played Oct. 17 against Oregon (8-4-1, 4-0).
