MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The Cheesemakers dropped a nonconference game against Avonworth (Penn.) 12-0 on March 25 over spring break.

Monroe was held to just four hits in the loss. Sloane Ambrose, Katrina Sathoff, Katie Witt and Emma Tran each had hits for the Cheesemakers. As a team, Monroe struck out just three times and didn’t walk. 

Katrina Sathoff pitched 3.2 innings for Monroe, striking out one and walking three. Sophie Golembiewski pitched the final 1/3 of the fourth inning. 

Avonworth pounded out 13 hits — 12 singles and a triple. 

Avonworth scored three runs in the third inning, then found a rhythm against Sathoff in the fourth, scoring nine runs. Monroe committed four of its five errors in the inning.
