MONROE — The Cheesemakers struggled against Watertown and Oregon June 3 and 5, losing three games in the process. Watertown won 10-0 in five innings June 3, then Oregon swept Monroe 11-5 and 10-3 June 5 in a doubleheader.
In the loss to Watertown, Preston Ambrose had two of Monroe’s three hits, while Evan Beyer had the third on a double.
Chase Stoerp pitched the first three innings, giving up 10 hits, a walk and nine runs — with just four earned. Colin Foley gave up an unearned run in the fourth inning.
Damon Lee stifled Monroe hitters all game, striking out seven and walking one.
In the opening game of the doubleheader against Oregon, Monroe scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first. The Panthers made it 3-1 in the third, 6-1 in the fifth, and then put five runs on the board in the top of the sixth to grab full control.
Max Golembiewski was Monroe’s starter, giving up six runs (one earned) with three strikeouts on six hits and two walks. George Brukwicki pitched the sixth and seventh innings, allowing five runs to score.
Ambrose had a hit and two walks for the Cheesemakers, while Matt Sniff had a two-out, two-RBI hit in the bottom of the seventh inning.
In Game 2, the Cheesemakers collected eight hits and 10 walks, but three errors plagued the defense.
Monroe led 3-1 after the first, 5-3 after three innings, 7-4 through four and 9-4 after the top half of the fifth. In the bottom of the fifth, Oregon batted around the order, scoring nine runs and taking a 13-9 lead that held.
Henry Brukwicki allowed all 13 runs, with nine earned on 106 pitches in 4.2 innings. He gave up 12 hits, two walks and hit a batter while striking out three. Foley pitched a scoreless 1.1 innings.
Tyler Matley had three hits for Monroe, while Charles Briggs added two hits. Beyer walked three times. Beyer, Matley, Briggs and Ethan Mapel each scored twice. Henry Brukwicki and Briggs drive in two runs.
Big Foot 8, Brodhead-Juda 2
East Troy 13, Brodhead-Juda 5
WALWORTH — The Cardinals dropped a pair of Rock Valley Conference games on June 3 and 4.
Against Big Foot June 3, a two-RBI fielder’s choice from Brady Malkow pulled Brodhead-Juda to within a run at 3-2 in the top of the fifth, but Big Foot scored three runs in the bottom half of the inning and added two more in the sixth for insurance.
Cade Walker took the loss on the mound, allowing five runs (one earned) with eight strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work. Cooper Woelky allowed three runs in an inning of relief, and Mason Kammerer got the final two outs on the mound for the Cardinals.
Aidyn Vondra had two hits, while Walker walked twice at the plate. Connor Green had a hit and a walk.
The next day at East Troy, Brodhead scored twice in the first inning, and took a 5-3 lead after the top of the fourth. East Troy scored four runs in the bottom half of the frame, and added two more runs in the fifth and four in the sixth to put the game away.
Malkow had two doubles, two RBIs, two runs and was hit twice by pitches. Vondra had a double and two walks with two scores. Dylan Lewis had a hit and two walks as well. Kohen Sawle also had a double.
Vondra took the loss on the mound, allowing seven runs in 4.2 innings on nine hits and seven walks. Kammerer walked back-to-back batters on eight pitches in the fifth before being replaced by Evan Senobe, who tossed the final 1.1 innings for Brodhead-Juda.

ARGYLE — The Orioles came out of an early hole June 3 and walloped the Warriors on the road, only to get blown out in a nonconference loss to Adams-Friendship the next night.
Black Hawk led 3-0 after the second inning of their Six Rivers East game June 3, but Argyle scored the next nine runs of the game. Black Hawk added two runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it 9-5, but the Orioles added five more runs in the top of the sixth to all but seal the win.
Brady Penniston had four hits and three RBIs for the Orioles. Jayden Johnson walked four times and scored three runs. Clay Ritschard had a double, two walks and two runs scored. Buddy Gerber and Thomas Nelson each had two hits for Argyle as well. The Orioles collected 13 hits and 14 walks against Black Hawk pitchers.
“Walks are tough to overcome. Black Hawk fought all game but could not overcome walks by our pitching staff,” Black Hawk coach Mike Burke said.
Jexen Stietz tossed the first three innings for Black Hawk, giving up three runs. Carter Baumgartner pitched innings 4-6, allowing 11 runs (eight earned) with eight hits and eight walks. Dempsey Schliem tossed the clean seventh.
For Argyle, Ritschard went 4.1 innings, allowed five runs on three hits and five walks while striking out seven. Max Godfrey went the final 2.2 innings.
At the dish, Jexen Stietz had two hits, including a triple. Clayton Stietz had a hit, two walks and scored twice. Baumgartner had a double, a single and three RBIs. Seth Dunlevy also doubled.
“Good nights at the plate for Seth Dunlevy, Jexen Stietz, Clayton Stietz, and Carter Baumgartner,” Burke said.
In Argyle’s doubleheader against the Green Devils, the Orioles allowed 29 earned runs in all. Argyle had just one hit in the nightcap.
Iowa-Grant 7, Monticello-Albany 5

MONTICELLO — The Ponies gave up a 4-1 lead in the sixth inning to lose to Iowa-Grant in a nonconference game June 3, then scored their first win of the season the next day against Black Hawk.
In the loss to Iowa-Grant, Rob Schroeder had two hits and Evan Rufer doubled. Brayden Ryan and Tyler Anderson each drew two walks as well. Andy Gertsch took the loss on the mound, allowing six runs (one earned) on five hits and three walks in 5.2 innings of work. Carson Gafner and Ryan came on in relief.
In the win over Black Hawk, the Ponies fell behind 2-0 headed into the bottom of the third, only to tie it up in that frame. Black Hawk scored a third run in the top of the fifth, but Monticello-Albany plated two more in the bottom of the sixth to score the win.
The Ponies had just two hits in the game — a triple by Jackson Eyler and a double from Rufer. Rufer drove in two runs, while Eyler and Luke Johnson each had RBIs. Lucas Milz and Clayton Stietz each singled and doubled for Black Hawk.
Schliem took the loss on the mound for Black Hawk, allowing three earned runs on two hits and four walks to go with eight strikeouts.
“Fantastic performance by Schliem on the mound, but the bats would not wake up,” Burke said.
Tyler Anderson scored the win for Monticello-Albany, allowing two earned runs in seven innings with five strikeouts, two walks and four hits.

NEW GLARUS — The Glarner Knights were busy in the final week of the regular season. Despite outscoring their opponents 12-11 in three games in three days, New Glarus was just 1-2 in the stretch.
On June 3, the Knights lost to Cambridge 2-0 in a pitcher’s duel. Peyton Mendleski allowed both runs (one earned) in the second inning. Eli Zimmerman came on to pitch in the third, tossing three shutout innings in relief. Brett Warrell tossed a clean sixth and seventh with two strikeouts.
At the plate, New Glarus struck out 12 times, walked just once and had five hits scattered. Cooper Dreyfus tripled for the Knights with Cale Weeden collecting two singles. Brennan Butler singled and walked.
On June 4, the Knights saw the bats come alive at Wisconsin Heights, scoring 12 unanswered runs between the second and seventh innings.
Cooper Dreyfus was 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs, two runs and two steals. Darris Schuett singled, walked, scored three times and stole four bases. Leyton Mihlbauer had two walks, a hit and three steals. Kylo Barker and Easton Dreyfus each had two hits. In all, the Knights collected 11 hits, eight walks, 12 steals and five hit-by-pitches.
Carter Siegenthaler tossed 5.1 innings, striking out seven and giving up two runs. Warrell struck out two batters in relief, and Nathan Streiff pitched a scoreless seventh.
On June 5, the Knights were methodically beaten by Madison Edgewood at Warner Park.
The Crusaders scored at least one run in every inning.
Barker took the loss on the mound, allowing two runs in two innings. Mendleski gave up four runs in an inning of relief, Warrell allowed one run in two innings of work, and Mihlbauer was tagged four two runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Cooper Dreyfus kept his hot bot going, smacking two doubles. Weeden and Barker had the only two other hits for New Glarus.
