WATERTOWN — Over the Jan. 29-30 weekend, the Monroe Dance Team competed at regionals, and clinched their way to the state championships, which will be held Saturday, Feb. 5 at the La Crosse Center.

The dancers performed their jazz routine choreographed by coach Kathryn Zastrow and their hip hop routine choreographed by AJ Juarez.

The team placed third in Division 2 Jazz and qualified for the State Dance Championships. Additionally, their high score in Division 2 Hip Hop earned them a wild card which also qualified them for state. The dancers will perform jazz at 12:30 p.m. and hip hop at 4:30 p.m.

“Despite the challenges of practicing during the pandemic, the dancers have remained resilient and dedicated to improving their technique and working together as a team,” said Zastrow. “They are so excited to have the opportunity to compete at state and share their artistry, athleticism and passion for dance.”
