LODI — Monroe-New Glarus defeated Lodi 98-72 in a nonconference dual Sept. 21.

The Cheesemakers won 7 of 11 events and took second seven times.

The meet opened with MNG sweeping the top two spots in the 200-yard medley relay. The quartet of Riley Hoesly, Mazie Paradis, Delaney Lynch and Danika Doll were first at 2:05.71, and Samantha Schiro, Karley Michels, Elsa Schaefer and Payton Yaun were second (2:10.18) by just over a half of a second.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Schiro was second (2:22.68) by 1/100th of a second to Lodi’s Anna Crary.

In the third event, the 200-IM, MNG swept the top three spots. Paradis blew away the field (2:12.71) for first place, with Schaefer (2:34.67) second and Yaun (2:40.10) third.

Doll was second in the 50-free (29.95), while Lynch (1:07.68) and Schaefer (1:13.42) were second and third in the 100-butterfly.

MNG then dominated the 100-free, again taking the top three spots, with Hoesly (59.68) first, Michels (1:06.18) second and Doll (1:07.48) third.

Lynch was first in the 500-free (5:56.21); Hoesly took the top spot in the 100-backtroke (1:09.37); and Paradis (1:11.26) and Michels (1:15.85) finished 1-2 in the 100-breaststroke. Michaels edged out Lodi’s Ella Puls by 4/100ths of a second.

In the 200-free relay, MNG’s grouping of Michels, Schiro, Yaun and Kristina Foley finished second (2:02.14). The Cheesemakers capped the meet with a first-place finish in the 400-free relay, as Paradis, Doll, Lynch and Hoesly finished at 4:08.75, nearly nine seconds ahead of Lodi.

“The girls did great and are looking forward to a great week of practice,” said Haley Kaiser, MNG co-coach.
