SOUTH WAYNE — Black Hawk-Warren senior Cayden Milz was named to the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Small School All-State first team on defense and honorable mention on offense. Milz was then joined by 11 teammates on the Six Rivers first-team all-conference list.
For the second consecutive year, Avery Baumgartner was chosen as the league’s lineman of the year. Baumgartner, a senior, was joined on the first-team list by nearly his entire offensive line. Senior tight end Nick Whitcomb, senior center Hunter Mets, junior tackle Gunner Foecking and junior tackle Skylar Neff — all of Black Hawk-Warren — were first-team selections. Senior guard Nick Hull was honorable mention.
Milz was a first team pick league pick at running back after leading the league in rushing this season. Defensively, Milz was a first-team pick and selected as the Six Rivers defensive player of the year.
Foecking, Neff, Baumgartner and senior defensive backs Ethan Williams and Jaylen Rufenacht were first-team defensive picks for Black Hawk-Warren.
Rufenacht earned second-team honors at wide receiver, while Williams was an honorable mention pick on offense. Whitcomb and seniors Cody Blosch and Reid Raisbeck were honorable mention picks on defense.
Baumgartner was an honorable mention all-state lineman on both offense and defense.
Pecatonica-Argyle senior Travis Dammen was a first-team pick on defense, while junior Clay Ritschard was second team at running back. Ritschard and seniors Zander Brunker, Griffin Gordon and Chevy Hughes were second-team defensive picks for the Vikings.
Senior kicker Bo Hendrickson and linebacker Easton Schraepfer were named honorable mention.
Potosi-Cassville’s Ben Udelhofen was named the league’s offensive player of the year, while Black Hawk-Warren swept the postseason coaching honors. Cory Milz won the league’s head coach of the year award, with Jacob Brunner being named the top assistant coach in the Six Rivers.
SWAL Football All-Conference
Darlington had two players named first-team all-conference this season, with three others earning postseason awards.
Offensive lineman Bailey Schilling, a senior, and junior wide receiver Carter Lancaster were first-team selections on offense for the Redbirds. Senior Carson Lobdell and Cayden Rankin, a junior, were second-team defensive picks. Senior Leif Bredeson was honorable mention.
Mineral Point senior Isaac Lindsey was named the SWAL offensive player of the year, with Lancaster senior Caden Straka earning the top defensive player title. Straka and Mineral Point’s Gabe Sporle were co-linemen of the year. Mineral Point’s Andy Palzkill was the SWAL coach of the year and Justin Leonard of Mineral Point was named the top assistant coach.
