MONROE — The Cheesemakers walked off in the opener of a nonconference doubleheader April 20 against Warren, then split the twinbill with an 11-2 loss in Game 2.
In the 12-11 opener, Monroe loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh with one out after Cael Losenegger worked an 8-pitch plate appearance, drawing a walk. The next batter, Payton Stauffacher, hit a ground ball to short and Hayden Zahradka flew home to score the game-winning run.
Warren opened the game with a 3-run first inning, but the Cheesemakers took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the third. The Warriors scored three more runs in the fourth, with Monroe countering with another run.
A six-run fifth by the Cheesemakers appeared to break the game open, with Monroe holding an 11-6 lead, but Warren tied it with a five-run sixth.
Stauffacher had a big day at the plate, finishing 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles and six RBIs. Max Golembiewski and Payton Sawdey each finished with a pair of hits and Dagan Rach was 3 for 4 with a double for Monroe. Tyler Matley was 1 for 3 with a walk, two RBIs, two steals and three runs scored from the leadoff spot.
Henry Brukwicki went 3.1 on the hill to start the game for Monroe, with Jared Cline tossing two frames in relief. Trevor Meier then came in and allowed two unearned runs in 1.2 innings.
In Game 2, Monroe scored a run in the second, but then allowed four in the third and sixth in fourth to fall behind 1-1.
Meier was 2 for 3 at the plate as the Cheesemakers were limited to six hits and three walks while striking out 10 times.
Sawdey was tagged for the loss on the hill, allowing 10 runs (8 earned) on 10 hits and a walk in 3.2 innings. Jared Baumgartner pitched 1/3 of an inning to get out of the fourth. Jared Dillon recorded the final six outs for the Cheesemakers — four of which of the strikeout variety.

ARGYLE — The Orioles dropped a twinbill to the sixth-ranked Miners April 18.
In the opener, Miken Godfrey allowed one run to cross the plate in the first, then buckled down until a 3-run hiccup in the sixth. Godfrey finished with 11 strikeouts and four hits with no walks. Only two of the four runs against him were earned.
Offensively, Argyle could only muster two hits and two walks against Miners starter Nathan Mowry, who struck out 10 in the complete game shutout.
The Orioles scored twice in the first inning of Game 2, but the Miners tied it in the third and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the fifth.
Gavin Johnson went the distance for Argyle, allowing two earned runs in 4.2 innings before the walk-off hit. Johnson struck out five and allowed three hits and six walks.
Brodhead-Juda 13, East Troy 3
BRODHEAD — The Cardinals scored two or more runs in five of six innings against East Troy in a Rock Valley win April 19.
Cade Walker was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, three RBIs and four runs for Brodhead-Juda, while teammate Conner Green was 2 for 3.
Andrew Brockwell, Jake Miller and Payton Johnson all had a pair of RBIs. Brockwell, Johnson and Brady Malkow each had doubles.
Quinton Kammerer got the win on the mound, allowing two earned runs in five innings. Green tossed a scoreless fifth.
Turner 3, Brodhead-Juda 2
BELOIT — The Cardinals played one of the state’s top teams to the end. Turner, ranked second in Division 2, rallied from a 2-0 deficit and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Jake Miller and Marco Bueno each had three hits for the Cardinals, with Miller collecting a double in the process, and Bueno notching both RBIs.
Brockwell allowed just one earned run in five innings.

MADISON — The Glarner Knights lost a doubleheader at Warner Park April 20.
Holden Latch went 3.1 innings on 90 pitchers in the opener, allowing 10 runs (9 earned) on seven hits and six walks. Cale Weeden got the final two outs on just four pitches to three batters.
Edgewood’s Jackson Trudgeon walked two and struck out four, collecting the five-inning no-hitter.
In Game 2, the Knights used four pitchers — Reeve Binger, Weeden, Eli Zimmerman and Carter Siegenthaler.
With the score tied at 1 after the first inning, Edgewood rattled off three runs in the second, two in the third and another in the fourth to control the game at 7-1. The Knights plated another runner in the sixth, but Edgewood added four insurance runs in the top of the seventh.
