MHS shoots down Goslings 63-49

WATERTOWN — The Cheesemakers picked up a solid 63-49 road win at Watertown Feb. 24.

Carson Leuzinger scored 24 points and added four rebounds and six assists to lead Monroe in scoring. Teammate Cade Meyer had a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Max Golembiewski added seven points and JT Seagreaves finished with six. Kory Stas led Watertown with 16 points.

Monroe led 33-28 at halftime and outscored the Goslings by nine in the second half.


McFarland 66, Brodhead 53

MCFARLAND — Connor Green had 16 points and Cody Malcook added 14, but it wasn’t enough for the Cardinals Feb. 24.

Brodhead went into halftime trailing by just a point at 26-25, but the home Spartans took control in the second half. 

Jackson Werwinski led McFarland with 27 points. Pete Pavelec had 14 for the Spartans, with teammate Blake Kes adding 12 and Max Hanson chipping in 11.

Brady Malkow struggled from the field, shooting just 2 of 11 and finishing with six points, but pulled down 10 rebounds and stole three balls for Brodhead. The Cardinals hit eight 3-pointers in the game but shot just 19 of 61 (31%) from the field.


In other area games from Feb. 24, Williams Bay defeated Albany 72-54, and Belmont picked up a win at Pecatonica 52-43.
