MONROE — The Badger South released its all-conference lists for football, soccer and volleyball Nov. 2. Monroe High School scored 21 honors across the three sports, with the football team notching 16 all-conference players.
The Cheesemakers had four first-team all-conference selections in football. On offense, senior center Patrick Rielly and the league’s regular season rushing champion, junior Trevor Rodebaugh, gained first-team honors. Nick Bansley, a senior defensive back, and Alex Witt, a senior linebacker, were first-team selections on defense.
Witt and Bansley were both second-team selections on offense, along with senior linemen Bodie Minder and Julian Gruber. Sophomore wideout JT Seagreaves, senior lineman Deion Hargrove and juniors Max Golembiewski (QB) and Tyler Matley (RB) were honorable mention players on offense.
Gruber was a second-team selection as a defensive lineman, and Seagreaves, Caleb Bunker and Preston Ambrose were honorable mention defenders for the Cheesemakers.
Stoughton QB Adam Hobson was the offensive player of the year in the league, while his teammate Jack Nelson, a UW-Madison commit, was the offensive lineman of the year. Watertown linebacker Jacob Crogan was the Badger South defensive player of the year, with Milton’s Kai Kerl and Stoughton’s Brooks Empey sharing the defensive linemen of the year honors.
The 2019 season was Monroe’s final in the Badger South for football. The Cheesemakers will move to the Rock Valley Conference in 2020 along with Madison Edgewood.
In volleyball, Monroe senior Cassi Gersbach was a second-team selection as an outside hitter. Teammates Lily Frehner, a senior, and junior Alyse Maurer were honorable mention picks.
Monroe senior Aaron Ziolkowski was a first-team selection in soccer. Coach Kyle Kasten said Ziolkowski is the first Cheesemaker boys soccer player to achieve such an honor since the 2009 season. Teammate Luis Torres was an honorable mention selection.
