MILTON — The Cheesemakers improved to 4-0 on the season with an 82-77 win over Milton Jan. 12.
Cade Meyer scored 26 points, including 15 in the second half, to lead Monroe. Carson Leuzinger (17), Max Golembiewski (16) and JT Seagreaves (11) also reached double figures, while Caleb Bunker added 7 points.
Jack Campion led the Red Hawks (3-1) with a game-high 34 points.
The Cheesemakers led 37-27 at halftime.
Monroe’s upcoming schedule has been tweaked a bit. The team’s Jan. 16 game against Janesville Parker was moved up to 12:30 p.m. Originally, the Cheesemakers were scheduled for two games next week against Madison Edgewood (Jan. 18, Jan. 21), but the visiting Crusaders (4-6) have paused activity due to COVID-19 reasons. The Cheesemakers will instead host Stoughton Jan. 18, then have Monona Grove come to town Jan. 21. Neither team has played so far this season due to Dane County and school board COVID-19 restrictions.
New Glarus 63, Dodgeville 48
NEW GLARUS — The Glarner Knights scored a nonconference win Jan. 11 against the Dodgers.
New Glarus (8-4) led 31-21 at halftime, and held on down the stretch.
Mason Martinson had a game-high 18 points to lead New Glarus, with Dain Walter (15) and Carter Siegenthaler (11) scoring in double figures.
The Knights were set to host Waterloo Jan. 14, then travel to Poynette Jan. 16.
Brodhead 70, Palmyra-Eagle 63
BRODHEAD — The Cardinals got a big night from Owen Leifker and Cade Walker in a Jan. 11 nonconference win over the Panthers.
Leifker finished 5-for-8 from 3-point land and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line, finishing the game with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Walker was 5 of 11 from deep and had 20 points and 6 boards.
The Cardinals (6-5) led 45-28 at halftime and were 15 of 20 from the free throw line and 13 of 36 from deep. Brodhead also out-rebounded Palmyra-Eagle 34-27. Aiden Calderon led the Panthers (6-7) with 33 points and 12 rebounds.
Shullsburg 59, Argyle 47
SHULLSBURG — The Orioles led 22-19 at halftime but couldn’t close out against the Miners in their game Jan. 11.
Brandon Hoppman led Shullsburg with 24 points and 10 rebounds, while Chandler Kelly finished with 17 points and 9 boards.
In other area boys basketball action, Barneveld defeated Juda 64-54 on Jan. 12.
