Lady Knights charge to first

Melanie Fink finished fourth at the Dana Waddell Invite on Tuesday, Sept. 12. She was one of three Lady Knight runners in the top 10 overall finishers.

COTTAGE GROVE — New Glarus-Monticello girls took a drop in the Division 2 rankings personally, racing to a first-place finish in the Dana Waddell Invite on Tuesday, Sept. 12. The Lady Knights were ranked No. 4 on Sept. 4 and dropped to No. 5 on Sept. 11, as Shawano went from No. 5 to No. 3.

Molly Olson and Melanie Fink led the squad with their third- and fourth-place finishes. Lily Maynard also placed in the top 10, while Ruthie Zuber and Lucy Melvin finished back-to-back in 14th and 15th. Overall, the team — including Emma Martinson and Camryn Arnett — ran within two and a half minutes of each other.

The boys team finished 10th of 11 teams, led by senior Tanner Gardner. Pardeeville, ranked No. 6 in Division 3, won the meet with three runners in the top overall finishers.
