MAZOMANIE — New Glarus took one on the chin at Wisconsin Heights Oct. 1, falling to the Vanguards in four sets.

“(We) struggled to find a rhythm in serve-reception during the first two sets,” said Knights coach Kayla Zimmerman.

New Glarus lost the first two sets 12-25, but rallied in the third set for a 28-26 win.

“Although storming outside, the third set provided a break in the rain that (we) needed,” Zimmerman said, adding that “better passing” played a key role.

While highly contested and competitive, the fourth set went to Wisconsin Heights 17-25.

Emma Marty finished the night with seven kills for the Glarner Knights, while Grace Nommensen had 19 assists and Ellie Eichelkraut finished with five digs. New Glarus will play in the Rio Tournament Oct. 5 before traveling to Marshall Oct. 8.
