Knights dropped by Belleville; Ponies score sweep

NEW GLARUS — Belleville swept the Glarner Knights Sept. 24, but not without a fight from New Glarus.

The Wildcats won the first game 25-19, but had to claw their way to a 26-24 victory in the second set. In the third set, Belleville was able to breathe a little easier and win 25-16.

Ava Foley led Belleville with 13 kills, four aces and 14 digs. Lola Gillaspie had seven kills and three aces for New Glarus, while teammate Grace Nommensen dished out 17 assists and Lily Himmelmann finished with five kills and three blocks.


Monticello 3, Albany 0

ALBANY — The Ponies routed the Comets Sept. 24, 25-9, 25-22, 25-16.

Ellie Gustafson had 16 kills, two blocks and three aces to lead Monticello. Emily Grant finished with eight kills for the Ponies, while Maggie Bak had two blocks, Alexa Siegenthaler 30 assists, Miah Brokopp 18 digs and Sarah Blumer three aces.

Mady Conway had seven kills to lead Albany, with Brianna Dahl finishing with five. Dahl added a block and five assists, while Conway had 13 digs. Comets teammates Cindy Detra and Jada Flannery each had two aces and Kaitlyn Dunphy finished with seven assists.


Brodhead 3, Evansville 0

EVANSVILLE — The Cardinals picked up another Rock Valley win Sept. 24, sweeping Evansville 25-16, 25-16, 25-15.

Katie Goecks had 10 kills, three blocks and an ace for Brodhead, while Abbie Dix finished with 10 kills, two aces and a block. Sabrina Siegel had eight kills, Madisyn Kail finished with two aces and eight digs, Catherine Speckman had 11 digs and Alexis Kammerer dished out 30 assists and 11 digs with an ace.

The Cardinals had seven aces, 34 kills and 51 digs in the match and finished with a serving percentage of 87.7.
