Juda outlasts Pec; BH takes title

JUDA — The Panthers (11-7, 5-6 Six Rivers) needed every last touch in order to beat the Vikings (3-16, 3-7) in four sets Tuesday 26-24, 26-24, 22-25, 25-21.

“Very tight match,” Juda coach Scott Anderson said. “Juda and Pec traded side-outs all night long in a long four-set match.”

Pecatonica led the first set 24-23, but Juda answered with points on three straight serves by Hannah Powers. In the second frame, the Vikings again held a late lead at 23-19 after a Lexi Peterson kill, but Triniti Elmer and Montana Steinmann teamed up to rally for the Panthers win.

In the third set, the score at 12-9 early on, Pecatonica’s Val Carr served the Vikings to a 20-9 advantage. In the deciding game, Pecatonica again led 17-15 before the Panthers rallied to win.

“Pec has really improved. They are young and really are up and coming. Our seniors really did the job,” Anderson said.

Hannah Powers led Juda with 10 kills, two blocks and five aces. Karlee Kesler had four aces and 12 assists, Montana Steinmann had 10 assists, Taylor Gollackson had nine kills and the Panthers collected 150 digs on the evening.

Pecatonica was led by Lexi Peterson’s five kills and six blocks. The Vikings also received 10 assists from Sydney Eaton, six aces from Val Carr and five kills from Tessa Green.

Black Hawk 3, Barneveld 0

BARNEVELD — The Warriors capped the conference slate unbeaten with a 25-9, 25-18, 25-6 win over Barneveld Tuesday.

Savanah Burmeister finished the match with seven aces and seven assists for Black Hawk, which also got 12 assists from Maddy Huschitt, two aces, two blocks and eight kills from Hannah Butler and eight kills and three aces from Bailey Butler.


Argyle 3, Albany 0

ALBANY — The Orioles swept the Comets Tuesday, 25-20, 25-11, 25-12.

Jena Saalsaa had 11 kills, two blocks, six digs and six aces to lead Argyle. Maggie Godfrey had eight kills, Grace Ganshert finished with seven digs, Jayden Saalsaa collected six digs and Kirsten Ostby dished out 15 assists for the Orioles.

Albany was led by Libby Beck’s six kills and three blocks. Mady Conway had seven digs and three aces, Payton Zurfluh finished with eight assists and Brianna Dahl smacked three kills.


East Troy 3, Brodhead 0

EAST TROY — The Cardinals were swept on the roach Tuesday 14-25, 17-25, 13-25.

Brodhead could only muster three aces and 14 kills on the evening.

Katie Goecks led the Cardinals with two aces and three blocks. Abbey Johnson had two kills, nine assists and seven digs.


Cambridge 3, New Glarus 2

NEW GLARUS — The Glarner Knights lost a heartbreaker Tuesday in five sets 15-25, 13-25, 27-25, 25-19, 9-15.

Lily Himmelmann had eight kills and six blocks to lead the Knights, while Alexah Mellenberger collected seven kills, Jada Malaise dished out 16 assists and Megan Bellefeuille recorded 13 digs.

New Glarus honored its three seniors on Senior Night, which included Bellefeuille, Haiden Zimmerman and German exchange student Luna Hakim.

Gracie Korth led Cambridge with 16 kills, 11 digs and four aces.
