Fury snag road conference win

STOUGHTON — The Fury picked up their first conference win of the year Dec. 7, 5-1 over the Stoughton Icebergs.

Anika Einbeck opened the scoring with just under a minute left in the first period off a pass from Sara Nerad. Alyssa Knauf then scored a power play goal 33 seconds into the second, with assists coming from Cammi Ganshert and Haley Knauf. 

Haley Knauf made it 3-0 with an even strength goal just 1:55 into the third. She was assisted by Nerad and sister Alyssa Knauf.

Nerad and Mya Maslonka each scored in the third for the Fury to take a 5-0 advantage. Olivia Coms, Haley Knauf and Maslonka assisted on the two goals.

Stoughton’s Sydney Schipper broke the shutout with 1:28 to play with a shorthanded goal.

The Fury outshot the Icebergs 30-20 and staved off seven penalty kills.

Rock County (3-3, 1-0 Badger Conference) were set to host the Badger Lightning (1-4) Dec. 11 in Janesville, and then host the Cap City Cougars (3-2, 2-0) Dec. 13 in Beloit.
