Fury rout Viroqua, net No. 2 seed

Albany sophomroe Alyssa Knauf scored four goals in the Rock County Fury’s 6-1 win over Viroqua Feb. 2 in Beloit.

BELOIT — The Fury scored a 6-1 win over Viroqua Feb. 2 at Edwards Ice Arena.

Albany sophomore Alyssa Knauf scored four goals to lead the charge. Knauf scored the only goal of the first period off passes from Anika Einbeck and Anna Malone.

In the second, Alyssa Knauf scored on assists from sister Haley Knauf and Cammi Ganshert to make it 2-0. Viroqua would light the lamp for the only time less than three minutes later.

Moments into the third, Einbeck needed a goal off assists from Olivia Combs and Abby Humphrey. Five minutes later, Alyssa Knauf netted the hat trick goal unassisted. Anna Malone made it 5-1 eight minutes into the frame on a pass from Combs.

With less than five minutes left in the game, Alyssa Knauf capped the scoring with assists again coming from Malone and Einbeck.

Olivia Cronin got the win in net. Rock County outshot Viroqua 38-32, but had five penalties to the Blackhawks’ four. 

Seeding for the WIAA playoffs were released Feb. 3, with Rock County netting the No. 2 seed in the Madison sectional. The Fury, which still has three games to play in the regular season, will host Baraboo Feb. 14 in the first round of the playoffs with the sectional semifinal taking place Feb. 29.
